Driving Range Golf Session at Marina Bay Golf Course

Wednesday, November 04, 2015

If you've been following me on Instagram, YES I'm KFIT-ing every week. Every single week. Muay Thai, HIIT Yoga, Japanese Sauna and so many different activities! This week - Bounce Fitness which I can't wait :)

With the variety of classes that KFIT offers, there's just so many classes I wanna try!! I wanted something challenging and new, something out of my comfort zone. :)

So last week, I decided to sign up for...................

GOLF.

Omg if you're a commoner like me (lol), the thought of playing golf kind of intimidates me. I've always perceived it as a luxury activity enjoyed by wealthy people. (errr like Tiger Woods?) I'm really, really glad that KFIT offers special activities like that. A chance to experience a new sport & I wanted to find out how golfing was like.

Conveniently located just right next to Gardens By The Bay, the Marina Bay Golf Course overlooks the beautiful waters and skyscrapers of Singapore.

The photo might be deceiving, but the field is SUPER huge!

The outfield is 270m in length. Really huge.. And the driving range has four storeys to accommodate a total of 150 range goers :)

Being really super duper new to golf, I wasn't too sure of what attire to turn up in, so I called them and the customer service personnel was so nice to explain what to wear (which was just covered shoes and something sporty casual) and told me that there's also shower facilities at their golf club too. :)

"Okay.. Now we're here. Where do we start?!"

With absolutely 0% knowledge in golf, I decided to take the last lane to hide and observe the pros at it. (hopefully to pick up some tips at the same time) Hahaha.

But thankfully D knew how to play golf!! So he was my personal teacher for that afternoon :P

"NOW ITS HAPPENING."

Each of us was given 150 balls, while rentals of clubs from MST Golf are available at only at $10 :)

"150 balls..  Let's do this!"

Observing the others golfing. Most of them are by themselves and I must say playing golf is pretty therapeutic :)

We finished the balls within 1 hour 30 minutes! Wasn't easy to finish the 150 balls.. Though there were several times when the balls flew right to the net and vanished out of our sight (lol), this is a pretty awesome experience everyone should at least try once in their lifetime.

My arms ached so badly the next day. So actually, it's A REALLY GOOD WORKOUT FOR THE UPPER BODY. Now we know why national golf players don't have saggy underarms fats. Hahaha. I am definitely going back for more golf sessions!

Book your driving range golf session at Marina Bay Golf Course with KFIT today :)

In fact, try out your first month at only $39 when you key in "GLADYSP" - Unlimited classes and activities to fitness clubs, facilities over Singapore anytime, anywhere :)

I love the fact that KFIT allows me to challenge myself with the variety of activities offered.

Step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself today. The only thing that's holding you back is you. I'm working towards a healthier, leaner me - not because of aesthetics or whatsoever - but because I love my body to know that it deserves nothing but the best. :)

Steaksome Experience at District 10 Bar & Grill

Sunday, September 27, 2015

Just last Wednesday, I was invited to try out District 10 Bar & Grill's marbling & juicy steaks with Gerald and some other food bloggers.

Decked out in a MDS Collections ensemble :) I'm a MDS girl. Hehehe

district 10 suntec review

Upon reaching there, we were super impressed with District 10's contemporary yet rustic decor & interior design with its wood-crackled-fired wall panels.

With a European meat showcase and chiller (Yes, and that chiller actually cost a whopping $22,000 just to store its dry-aged meat), a bespoke butcher’s block for its cleaver-ready cuts, a fully functional show kitchen for its traditional charcoal-grill cooking and a cozy 30-seater dining space for its gourmet loyalists.

We were comfortably seated just right in front of the butcher's block, which gave us full view of Chef Luca doing at what he does best - doing the perfect cut!

I'm the BIGGEST fan of steaks, so just staring at this make me go... oooo~

Cutting away the fats, which can be actually eaten straight away - with a dash of salt

You may start to wonder - what's all that fuss about dry aged meat?

A popular old practice in non-tropical cold and dry regions, butchers and gourmets discovered that dry-aged meat had a surprisingly higher concentration of natural flavors as the enzymes broke down the connective tissues in the muscles which softened and tenderized the meat.

With meticulous dry-aging procedure and temperature-controlled facilities, customers will get to savor the tasty and tender goodness of the dry-aged cuts.

What I exceptionally loved about District 10 Bar & Grill was that their steak are grilled over the traditional method of charcoal grill. As when the fine cut hits the scotching grill with salt, pepper, herbs and extra virgin olive oil, this will bring out the steak's natural taste and aroma layered with its tenderness and juice while its skin crust is crispy and crackling with perfection.

While we were waiting for the food to be served, we tried out its in-house cocktail - Fruits of Angel - a specially concocted cocktail consisting of homemade papaya syrup, fresh lemon juice and thyme which was super refreshing.

Fruits of Angel

Vitello Tomato with thinly sliced Veal Loin

Home baked organic cherry tomato-basil bruschetta

Absolutely Instagram-worthy

Appetizer - Puglia Burratina with Organic Cherry Tomatoes

45 Days Home Dry Aged Corn Fed US Prime Traditional Florentina Steak - Super amazing! (4/5)
(S$22++ per 100 gram)
Double Espresso Panna Cotta with Vanilla Sauce

Bitter Chocolate Marshmallow Fluff with caramelized banana

All in all, District 10 Bar & Grill has surpassed my expectations for its marbling, high quality yet affordable steak and even its desserts. Though nestled among the ongoing renovating stores at Suntec, the restaurant was rather full even on a weekday night.

Without doubt, I see myself coming back again - this time to try out the other dishes on their menu!

If you've a special occasion/event coming up with your loved ones, you may want to consider District 10 Bar & Grill for a gastronomic experience ;)

Everyday Skincare/Makeup Routine

Sunday, July 19, 2015

Hey guys!

I'm so sorry. I know I've been saying this over and over again but it's been MONTHS since I last blogged. (Think I said that a few months back?) I'm now back full-force with lots of contents to share with y'all.

My last update was January 2015 ~_~  But blogging once in a blue's not gonna happen anymore. I'll be blogging every now and then, especially since I've been spending the entire day trying to learn about my camera's functions - aperture, ISO, etc.

If you're really keen to see what I'm up to everyday, just follow me on Instagram! ;)

So if you're wondering what's happened from Jan all the way till now... A quick summary of what I've been up to:
  • Just got back from Thailand again! This time, it was really an adventure - did mostly island hopping :)
  • Got a full-time job as a marketing executive and I'm really loving every minute of it! Fine.. not every minute la but the passion is THERE. :P

Since there's really a lot of things I'm gonna be updating about, thought I'd like to share my skincare/makeup routine is like :)

People who has known me for ages know how easily my skin will break out / get irritated, which is why buying skincare can be a pain in the ass as I don't know which product don't really work out  well for me. I've got both sensitive and combination skin, and recently things went downhill when I broke out really bad. Like really, really bad. The pimples spreaded across my face, decided to go bonkers and left dark, horrible scars that seems like it's never ever going away. I tried everything - weird homemade masks, changed my lifestyle, what I ate, bought expensive skincare, scar gels and what not.

The only thing that really worked..... was my beloved Jorubi Aloe Vera gel. 100% natural, it soothed the angry pimples and my scars are getting a lot less visible now!

Of course, paired with a proper skincare regime and diet, my skin got a lot better and makeup glides on a lot smoother right now :)

 1. Tone - Sekkisei Lotion

Basically it's a lightweight toner that smells like baby powder. It's supposedly infused with oriental herbs to help promote a luminous, radiant skin. I've only started using this for a week, and I can see the vast difference! My pores are getting a lot less visible and my skin's getting more luminous ;)

 2. Moisturise - Innisfree Green Tea Fresh Cream

I got it from Qoo10 when they had a timesale. Didn't have much expectation for Korean skincare.. especially when it comes to moisturiser since my impression is that it's always super over moisturising. My skin can't take that! Surprisingly this turns out to be pretty lightweight yet moisturising at the same time. It does smell a teeny weeny funny but so far, it's been making my skin behave ;)

One step that I missed out - My Jorubi Aloe Vera Gel. Usually I'd just apply after the moisturing part to help soothe the redness on my face :)

Makeup

As for makeup, I really like my daily makeup to be as natural as possible but yet chic at the same time! Don't get me wrong - I love dolling up, especially for special occasions ;) Special occasions will call for falsies, highlighting & contouring, bold lipsticks and more intense eyeshadow colours. I try not to use foundation daily as they tend to clog pores, so be sure to use a good makeup remover! I use Biore's oil makeup remover :)

1. Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

This is my holy grail of all. I'll never be out of the house without this if I was going to club. I can skip primer (just kidding) and just use this. This awesome bottle of goodness is usually used at the last part after makeup's all done. Just give your face a few spritz and watch your makeup stay on your face (even after a night of intense clubbing) and your makeup won't even budge!

2. Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette

Hands down my favourite eyeshadow colours of all eyeshadows in the world. Consisting of neutral to bold colours, there's a colour for any occasion! It's an all-in-one; the light colours I'd use them to highlight my brow bones, eyes while the dark ones can be used for contouring and create bold looks for the eyes :) I use the colours EVERYDAY. Kid you not.

3. Smashbox 15 Hours Hydrating Foundation

After discovering this, I don't think I'm going back to Makeup Forever HD Foundation. The staying power for this is really awesome - the only complaint I have for this is that it dries off too fast! But other than that, the coverage is awesome and a bottle goes a long way :) And it stays true to its claim - 15 hours of coverage and even longer if you use Urban Decay's All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray.

4. Makeup Forever HD Primer

I got this as part of the Makeup Forever starter kit, and I've been loving this ever since! Not only does it smells really nice, it helps to minimize the appearances of my pores and help makeup glide on really smoothly :)

ZA Perfect Fit Concealer

I've been using this since I was 12. yes.. 10 years and I haven't changed my concealer since. Switched to Faceshop's concealer stick and a few other brands, but I find myself coming back to this concealer every single time. It doesn't crease and budge, and it's only less than $15! My necessity.

Recently purchased Etude House Drawing Eyebrow in brown from Qoo10. I'm not a fan of korean makeup but this really took me by surprise. The colour is really pretty pigmented and comes off nicely. There's a brush at the other end of the tip that helps you achieve the korean eyebrow (straight and bushy) yet sophiscated at the same time.

Another one of my holy grail drug store makeup will have to be Wet n Wild Eyeshadow in Walking on Eggshells. I've been re-purchasing it again and again and I don't see any reason not to buy it! I use it to highlight the inner corner of my eyes, above my lips and my brow bone to achieve the more-defined look.

Moving away from Makeup Forever's HD Finishing Powder, I'm currently using Tarte's Finishing Powder. It's a lot more compact as I can just use the brush inside the packaging. I'm not too sure how to feel about this as it doesn't last long (it's about $38!) and not too wallet-friendly and the brush can get pretty tricky to use if you're a beginner. What I do is that I'll use my kabuki brush and just brush it over my face.

TonyMoly Petite Bunny Gloss Bar

I have nothing but FULL OF PRAISES for this petite "lipstick." It smells like the best thing ever on earth (Yea.. I've got a soft spot for things that smell nice :P) Though they call it a gloss bar, the colour is really gorgeous and pigmented, and it stays on pretty long considering that it's just a lipbalm/semi lipstick. (2~3 hours) It's so good I bought it again and in 2 more different shades.

Esprique Bright Lasting Rouge

One of the most moisturising lipstick I've ever used, the colour is really pigmented and stays on well too! It doesn't settle onto your lip lines like other matte lipsticks do. It's also not too matte but not too glossy either. Just the perfect texture. As it's pretty bold, I only use it for special occasions :)

That's all about my skincare/makeup routine. Hope you guys enjoy as much as I did blogging about it!

Hope this post will help you with deciding on which makeup products to go for when you're at Sephora ;)
Can't wait to share more about my adventures in my next post!

Get back on track to a healthier 2015!

Sunday, January 11, 2015

Happy 2015 guys!

My last post for 2014 was back in April, but I'm back to blogging again - thanks to my job status right now... Haha.

Here's a new layout (yes, 3 days of designing! *sweats*) to mark a new journey and to a better year ahead!

This year, I'm hoping to come back stronger, faster and fitter than the previous year as I've taken my health for granted and lost quite a lot of motivation the last quarter of the year.

(And yes, I want to be known as the fit chick! HAHA)

So far, I've logged in 10 DAYS OF WORKOUTS for this year so far! Today is the 11th so that leaves me only 1 rest day which was on Tuesday :P My workouts doesn't even include me going to my local fitness club's classes, I went for a Crossfit class too :)

So far, I'm liking where I am heading to this year!

Here are some tips that never fails to get me back on track to a healthier, happier, well-nourished mind and body:

1) Stay well hydrated

I cannot emphasize anymore on this. And by this, I don't mean coffee, juice, or tea! Just. Water.

Drink up if you're looking to shed the excess weight! Cold water helps to also raise your metabolism, which means you burn calories even when sitting down doing nothing ;)

I usually carry a 1-litre water with me everywhere I go - to work, to dinner, shopping, everywhere. I even have friends asking me, "Wah, you carry such a big bottle not heavy meh?" Well, the heavy load from the bottle is what motivates me to drink up.

The recommended intake is about 1.8 liters ~ 2 liters, so usually I'd make sure to finish drinking the my bottle after the 2nd refill by the end of the day.

2) Eliminate all junk and processed food from your house

Unless you're staying under the same roof as your parents like I am, THROW OUT all processed, junk food. Abort all mission trips to the nearest 7-11 to stock up on your potato chips.

When these unnatural food are so readily available and accessible, there's a huge tendency that we will turn to them when we're lazy to cook. Basically I'm living with my parents and brother, so I don't get to throw out much junk food - my dad love his chips. Sigh. But one thing I did throw - Pocky Chocolate Sticks! (It's my biggest weakness.. I can never resist them!)

What to do: Stock up on real, wholesome food such as fruits, vegetables and wholegrains instead! When I got hungry, I couldn't find my junk food (aka Pocky Chocolate sticks) so I had to snack on fruits like apples, blueberries, pears and grapefruits instead :)

3) Go on a detox diet for 3 days

By this, I don't mean a juice cleanse! (I'm gonna start my juice cleanse hopefully soon, so I can blog about it! I won't be buying the juices from others, but will be totally DIY at home 'cos I've got my Kuvings Juicer!)

What I mean by going on a detox diet is to eat CLEAN for just 3 days. Reset your body by eating healthily. Love your body enough to let it thrive on good, clean energy from wholesome food.

I usually also try to cut down on my intake of animal meat as much as possible, but I'd still have eggs, and white, lean meat such as turkey breast and chicken breast :)

Here are some meals I've had as my breakfast/lunch/dinner:

Breakfast
I usually workout in the morning, so breakfast is the most important meal of the day! It's gotta have protein, carbs, fiber to give me enough energy to work my ass off in the gym :P Perfect pre-workout breakfast would be toasted sprouted wholemeal bread topped with mixed greens and poached eggs with fruits on the side.

Lunch
Lunch is usually either a spinach + banana smoothie or if I'd want to go a little heavier, I will have the above (Turkey breast ham on sprouted wholemeal bread with mixed greens) or my home made fried brown rice :)

Dinner
Italian mixed salad (with lots of rockets, I love them!) topped with brazil nuts, almonds, cashews, macadamias and turkey breast ham with a homemade balsamic vinaigrette as my salad dressing! I also have an apple as a side to keep me full :)

To cleanse your body for the entire 3 days, here are some things you'd want to eliminate for that period:
  • Dairy products
  • Refined sugar
  • White flour, white bread, white pasta, processed food
  • Sugary drinks
  • Alcohol
  • Red meat such as beef

Instead, introduce these lovely items into your kitchen!
  • Whole grains such as brown rice, wholemeal / sprouted bread, oats
  • Dark leafy greens - Spinach, kale
  • Lots of vegetables & fruits for daily dosage of fiber and goodness
  • Green Tea / Peppermint Tea - These are the two teas that I drink almost everyday :)
  • Spices and herbs to add flavour to your food!
Currently turmeric and parsley are my favourite at the moment. They're just so versatile and can be added to almost anything.

This year, I'm so excited to be be sharing with you guys my healthy recipes that I've already even created a page for it! (see the navigation bar on top.. Heh)

4) Go WORKOUT or stay active

Go sign up at your nearest fitness club. Or hit the public gym. Sign up for yoga classes at your community club.  Join a dance class. Attend weekly bootcamp classes held around sunny Singapore. Anything to keep you active!

The thought of working out after a long day at work might be a turn-off for some, but believe in the process. If you want to see a positive change in your energy and body, the thing you have to change is your MINDSET.

Your body is willing, but is your mind willing to take up the challenge?

Typically, I don't go for any workout class other than the ones conducted by my own fitness club but this year, I decided to go for my first Crossfit class at Mobilus after much hesitation! Hopefully it won't be my last too :)

Wall ball at Mobilus Crossfit

Box Jumps.. *faints*

Totally didn't regret at all. In fact, I loved how the capability of my body surprises me at times! I lifted a lot heavier than I did in my entire life and my knees felt like giving way at one point of time. But I pushed on and it felt so amazing :)

I've also been hitting the gym that I signed up with at least 5 times a week, mainly doing circuit training, Bodycombat, spinning and Bodypump!

Feels definitely good to be staying active, working out and eating well!

Remember - The only thing that needs to change is your mindset. Nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it :)

To a fitabulous 2015!
