11th Month Anniversary Brunch at Riders Cafe

Monday, October 15, 2012

Yesterday was our 11th month anniversary, and since I've been telling Dear I really wanted to try out the brunch at Riders Cafe, Bukit Timah after hearing so many good reviews about it, he decided to bring us there for our 11th month anniversary!

Super duper happy so woke up early and dressed up for our brunch date!

Upon reaching there, I realised Riders Cafe is actually more convenient and accessible for those with cars, or if you're opting for cabs. It's rather inconvenient for those who wants to come here via public transport because the cafe is located inside Bukit Timah Saddle Club.

Since we did not make a reservation, we were inside the waiting list, and had to wait approximately 30 minutes(?)
Marmalade Pantry was just opposite, so I asked Dear if he wanted to eat there instead, since there was no queue there. But Dear said it was rather costly. Hahhaa. And since we came down here just to try out Riders Cafe, so we decided to stick with our decision!

After less than 30 minutes, received a call promptly from a lady whom I assume is the owner, and she informed us that a table was available. Dear drove back to Riders Cafe and the nice lady seated us near the balcony, facing the hill and horse stables.

Really liked how staffs are attentive to our needs and food served is rather fast, considering the fact that the cafe was full-house that day!

Ordered cranberry juice :)

Love how cosy the whole cafe is :)

Dear!~

Hahahhaa, hiding his moustachey~

Well, he said the food here is priced quite reasonably, and the view was quite good too..

 Inside the cafe

We waited for about 15 minutes for the drinks to be served? Especially the Cafe Mocha that Dear ordered.

The Latte art is about the same as Blackbird's..

While waiting for our food~

Finally, the food arrived!

Riders Burger with Rocket, Brie, Relish, Bacon & Seasoned Fries ($17)
Dear said that their burger was SUPER DELICIOUS! Especially their beef patty, which was juicy and tasted super good!

I ordered Blackstone Benedict with Bacon & Tomatoes, Poached Eggs & Hollandaise on rustic Sourdough ($15)

Loved the bacon & tomato, but the egg yolk was rather solid. Was supposed to be runny, but it wasn't runny at all. When I cut it opened, it was no different from the yolk of a hard boiled egg. Dear told me to request for a change but I just told him it's okay.. But the combination of tomato, bacon and the egg was superb!

Everything totaled up to about $40+~
Not sure if my boyfriend ever wants to come here anymore.. But I guess I would? For the view, and maybe try out their dinner and prolly have some high tea session 'cos I so wanna try out their Death by Chocolate Cake!

Walked around the nearby stables and the horses were just so...... huge.

Some snapshots~

Anyway, Riders Cafe is just right behind us :)
Looks so tiny from afar but the cafe is quite big!

Love Dear lots for pampering and showering me with so much love that makes me feel like the most loved girl in the whole world. LOVE YOUUUUUUU!

After brunch, we went to meet his mum at Bugis, went to Westmall for dinner, and headed back home!

Life as an intern

Thursday, October 11, 2012

These few weeks working as an intern, having to adjust to the 8.30 - 6 office hours is definitely no easy feat.
Over the past few weeks, I've developed:

1) Severe, and I mean ABSOLUTELY SEVERE dark eye circles
2) Huge eyebags...................
3) Pimples. 'Nuff said.
4) All sorts of weird pain all over my body. Especially headache!
5) Excessive eye shit
6) Possibly even gain lots of weight

Every night I dread the idea of having to sleep late, knowing the next morning I have to wake up FREAKING early. Oh gosh..

But one awesome thing about my workplace is.........

The people are so nice!
Everyone is SERIOUSLY nice.

That's something I am so happy about! :)

On the first day of internship, in fact, my boss actually treated us to Astons Specialties!
Ordered grilled fish :-) Don't look tempting but it taste pretty good.....

Just going to blog about some events last month?
I finally went to Jcube for the first time! Dear and I went there during one of the days when I was still on MC, and yes, shopping waits for no (wo)man! Sickness is not an excuse to stop shopping, isn't it? Hahhaa.

Went to their Miyoc outlet and bought this uber chic dip dye denim vest!

Freaking chio, and it's even better in real life!

Well, since pay day was near, I got myself some apparels from several blogshop.. My most recent purchase was from Missypixie! I bought their maxi dress in a really pretty light turqoise shade and that is SO my birthday dress :P

Bought some clothes from Vauntcloset as well!
Wore one of their asymmetrical pattern peplum top on a Friday when I was on my way to Blackbird Cafe to find dear~

Asymmetrical pattern peplum top is from Vauntcloset :)

Since I was wearing a peplum skirt that day, I just tucked it in! Love it!

Despite several attempts to SAVE MONEY, I figured out I might as well just give up. Went to eat dinner at Blackbird Cafe and my boyfriend whipped up a SPECIAL meal for me!

And yes, he combined all my favourite food in the whole.....................
Mushroom, prawns, scallops are my favourite food in the world!! And this, was just heavenly.

On another lovely Saturday, when Dear worked 4pm, we decided to pay a visit back to Chockfull of Beans again for a late brunch, and they are just conveniently located at Changi Village!

This time, I decided to try out their mango ice blended with real juicy mango bits and whipped cream on top of it :) It was absolutely DELICIOUS. I just couldn't get enough of it!

Ordered my Portobello Mushrooms with Eggs Benedict! And had a failed attempt at taking a decent polaroid photo.. Sigh but still~

Anyway the past few weeks Dear has been around for almost everyday. He even TRANSFORMED one of my house's old furniture into a brand new one!

This is actually a fishtank holder but it got rusty so we were quite worried it might give way and break the fish tank. But Dear bought new paint (specially meant for rusty metal) from Homefix and gave it a brand new look!

After that, he went to OTF aquarium and bought some aqua plants and rocks!
And..................
TADAA!

Look at how Dear's arranged the rocks! It's so pretty! Like a garden......

The aquarium has made the house a lot more livelier, together with the newly bought shrimps and tetra fishes!

So proud of him...
I was actually thinking how much we could actually save in the future if we just get old furnis from the gurunguni man and revamped them into brand-new looking ones! But prolly the idea wouldn't last long 'cos I'm not a fan of.. old stuffs user. Heheh :/

Been loving my Instax mini polaroid so much that I guess most of my pay is also spent on instax films? Just recently bought Hello Kitty instax films from Gadget Passion's warehouse.. In fact ,they are prolly the cheapest around in Singapore!

Dear insisted I use it during the month of November... 'cos it's *ahem*, my BIRTHDAY!

Well as seen on my wall, You can already see how frequent I've been using my polaroid..... Hehehe :)

Also bought some stickers to decorate my polaroid!

Advanced Birthday Celebration for Mummy at Boon Tong Kee!
Well, we decided to give this a try for Mummy's birthday.. and wonder what's all the fuss about!

The outlet we went to was at East Coast Road, and by dinner time (On a Sunday), it was considerably packed. The waiters and waitresses were busy serving customers that somehow, they also mixed up our order which made us feel abit..... :/

Anyway, Mummy loves sea cucumber so we ordered Sea Cucumber and Mushrooms! ($24)
The mushrooms were pretty juicy.. I didn't get to eat the sea cucumber but it was finished within 10 minutes so I assume it was good too? :)

Boon Tong Kee is well-known for their chicken rice, so of course, their chicken has to be of substantial quality. I thought that the sauce was really nice, but the chicken was cold.........

This seem like any other ordinary vegetable dish, nothing special, but nothing bad about it either.

Steamed Egg - consisting of 3 different types of eggs. It was the ultimate dish we were looking forward to, but we were greatly disappointed. The steamed egg was so soft that it literally melted in our mouth. It was pretty bland and we thought it was a waste of money....

Overall, I don't think I will be coming here except for maybe their chicken rice. It's not a restaurant that serves GOOD food that makes you crave for more. Just a normal restaurant with normal standard food.

After dinner, Dear sent my parents home and we went to Woodlands Harbour/Bay/Whatever for dating and coincidentally, it was also Mid Autumn festival!

And of course, the one behind him..... is his second wife. :(

Yesterday, Dear picked me up from work and we went to Jurong Point's newly opened Malaysia's food street - Boleh Malaysia! I came to know of it after reading about it on the newspaper at work. They mentioned that the food served there are all originated from Malaysia's street hawkers.

Boleh Malaysia is located on the last floor of Jurong Point (Pardon me, I haven't been to Jurong Point before.. And how could I not have?! It was indeed a great mall!) and we were pleased by how the ambience was! It was like a typical food court, however, it did have a Malaysia food street feel to it with the "temporary stalls" with the nostalgic signboards.

There were already a huge crowd and many people were actually hovering around occupied seats, waiting for them to finish or asking them if they could share seats. Some of the stall vendors are Malaysians, after hearing their accents and their fluent Cantonese.

We wanted to go and try their KL Hokkien Mee and we ordered a small one ($4.50) and the small, is REALLY SMALL. It was quite a miserable portion and I felt quite cheated?
But it was really good! Even better than the one we tried at Geylang.. but at only half the price!

We also ordered Fried Carrot cake with oysters and something else which we didn't find that nice.

Guess the best dish was the KL Hokkien Mee!

Anyway, after our dinner, we went to Ji De Chi for dessert and it was full-house! Thankfully we still managed to grab a seat and was served promptly. They have Durian snow ice too!!!!!

I was so tempted to try it, but decided to stay focus on Mango snow ice ($5) instead. And the price wasn't that steep either, compared to the other snow ice shops in Singapore.

 Finally it arrived!

Look at the toppings! Yogurt pearls that burst in your mouth and nata de coco! This dish is the ultimate dessert for all mango lovers!

After dessert, walked around Jurong Point before heading to the nearby prawning site.
Well, I guess I got abit upset about some stuffs so yeah, all the crazy stupid girly drama happened. Tried to control how I felt but I just couldn't take it.. Guess it hit me kinda hard. There was so much hurt inside me and so many emotions and thoughts running through at the same time that I just didn't know what to do.

Dear decided to make me feel better by asking me if I wanted to chill somewhere for a drink? I was expecting prolly some bar but he brought me to his old workplace, One Rochester.

I was so in love with the surrounding and ambience that I couldn't take my eyes off everything. There weren't much people there and the ambience was so ROMANTIC!

And yes, we were sitting by the sofa, surrounded by pretty lights and trees..

One Caramel (top)

Ordered a Appletini for myself, and it surprisingly turned out really good and refreshing! Yum!

Freaking dark eyes (from faded eyeliner) thanks to the drama earlier on.

And I love our sofa cushion seat!

Well, we kinda had a mushy-serious talk about the future, and I wasn't really expecting much from him, but we started discussing on where we'd hold our weddings at, style of the wedding, the food preparation etc, as if we were really going to prepare our wedding anytime soon -_-

Guess he really made my day that I ended the night smiling and with a lighter heart!

Really love nights like this....
Feel so blessed and loved right now. :)

A short trip to Ipoh with Mummy & boyfriend!

Sunday, September 30, 2012

WARNING: A SUPER LONG POST AHEAD

I've been wanting to blog about my trip to Ipoh with Mummy and Dear for quite sometime but I've been so busy with internship!
Everytime I reach home I just want to go sleep..

Finally today I have the time to blog since I had a sufficient 10 hours of sleep BAHAHAH!

Been a while since I went back to Ipoh because of my studies :( Most of my holidays have to be committed to work/projects so going back Ipoh was just abit too rush for me. Thankfully, this time I had just enough time to go back for a week before internship starts!

Really excited because I was FINALLY bringing a boy back. The last time I recalled having a boyfriend everyone screamed and hated me HAHAHA. So yeah, this was quite a big deal and it made me nervous just by thinking how they'll react when they see him..

Took the coach on Sunday, 9pm and we reached Ipoh at about 4am. My aunts fetched us and we went to eat at our usual breakfast spot!

After that went back to my aunt's house and they actually cleared the room for my bf and I to sleep!! HAHA  such a drastic change... I kept on teasing them what happens if something happened between both of us and they were like, "you dare?"

Well, the first day we went to my aunt's cafe "Nice Desserts Cafe" at Glamour square. The business is picking up and I'm seeing more patrons than I did 1 and a half years ago! Still loving the homemade pizzas and yogurt ice cream! Yummy!

Yogurt Ice-cream. ALL NATURAL NO PRESERVATIVES.

My 1st aunt doing the cashiering

Mocha Ice blended!

And oh yes! This is the cuppa that Dear did to show mummy and my aunt.. They were impressed!

Well, we were a little full from our light snacks but we still have to make a visit down to my uncle's shop because I miss my cousin so damn much!!!! She's turning 4 this year (i think?) and she IS SO WITTY AND INTELLIGENT.

And my uncles are such great cooks baahahha.
That goes the same for my mum too ;p

Oh well anyway, wanted dear to try out my uncle's cooking!

Red table for us siol... HAHAH!

:)

Dear and me!

Feel really overly excited cos I was back at Ipoh.. this time with my boyfriend. My brother's busy with his school so he couldn't come back.. And yes I felt empty. In fact, I know all of us do.

After the sumptuous dinner, (SUPER DELICIOUS) we went to the karaoke lounge, to sing some songs because my grandmother is ALWAYS joining singing competitions.

Ended the night by singing :)

Day 2:
Uncle Fei Lou (that's what we call him.. and it's Fatty in cantonese :/) brought us out for a tour! Not that we needed a tour but because it was Dear's first time in Ipoh, so all of us decided to go! Even my aunt took a break from the cafe and joined us!

First stop, we went to eat the super expensive bowl of minced pork noodle. And the pork is seriously huge... AND IT'S RM 6! It was considered really expensive in Ipoh but still there were so many customers in the shop :) It was our first time (yes, even my mum's) eating here so we just had  to try it out! Recommended in newspapers and word of mouth and all..

Can't wait to eat the RM 6 noodles!

Kanchiong spider ready to eat!

The kway tiao in Ipoh  is really different from Singapore's. The kway tiao is much more smoother and thinner compared to the ones in Singapore, which is quite thick and rough -_-

HAPPY MEAL! We really loved the soup base!!!!! Omg I love anything with pork.. especially pork soup based ramen :)

Our next stop:
Cave Temple!

While in the car with my aunt!

Finally, we reached.. Uncle's car was so hot that despite the aircon at full blast, we were all still sweating like pigs -_-

Anyway, the cave temple is one of the few attractions that every tourist have to visit. Been here since I was a toddler so it was no stranger to me. There're a few temples and every one of them is different!

Ling Sen Tong (the first temple!)

I really liked this temple 'cos it's so pretty! And the scenery is BEAUTIFUL. Really.

There's this bowl placed under the Cai Shen Ye so if you get to toss the coin into the bowl you might just win 4D ;)

Mummy and aunt trying out

My aunt insisted that we have to take this photo because it's the marriage god or something? Hahahha *shy*

Oh and she insisted that I HAVE to take this photo too..... just cos the dog has 8 nipples wtf LOL

The second level of the temple

And the top!

With pretty views :)

The second temple we went to was a much more peaceful one. Not much god statues there but rather, more trees and there's even a tortoise pond for you to feed them!

However that day we went, the aunties selling the vegetables weren't there so we didn't get to feed the tortoises..

SO DROP DEAD PRETTY!!!!!!

The Guardian

The Parrot

三宝洞

Here's the tortoise pond! Loaded with loads of tortoises.. But I wonder what happened to all the HUGE ones :(

This is a new temple and it's so... surreal. Build entirely between the mountains and seems like there's no one inside?

After the visit to the mountain, our next stop was - the famous Bakery!
i didn't even know it existed until that day when Uncle Fei Lou brought us all there.

Selling famous hiong pang. There were so many people in the shop earlier and everything they baked is FRESH from the oven!

Bought a few packs and headed to our next destination!

You can see the pigeons flying cos Dear went to chased them -_-

I guess Uncle Fei Lou was a little hungry so he brought us to the famous Kaya toast shop nearby!
Omg I was so in love with the kaya toast..

Kaya PIE and Egg tart!

The inside of the egg tart was filled with STEAMED egg. So freaking unique please! And it was good!

And I love this kaya pie.. Been so long since I last ate it :P

And the chiffon bun!

Heehee

YES, the kaya toast is the best!!!!!!! So please stop telling me the one at East Coast road in Singapore is damn nice cos it taste like SHIT. THIS is the real deal!

Next stop:
Taman Gunung Lang!
This is a new attraction built by the government earlier this year.. Not much people know about it yet.. Even my aunts and uncles!

I thought this place was like some kind of cave visit but it wasn't! We were in for a huge surprise cos there was a HUGE ASS lake right in front of us with thousands of catfishes fighting for food in the lake!

There're even yachts to bring us around for touring about the lake

Look at the fierce catfishes fighting for food as we unload the whole pack of bread loaf to them! Hahaha So shiok to see them like that

Decided to take a boat ride around the lake! So excited!
Ready!

It was so smooth!

AND WE SPOTTED A FEW KOMODO DRAGONS!

Uncle Fei Lou explaining something

Reaching the next "island!"

Thank you our lovely boat operator!

The moment we stepped out of the boat, my aunt spotted this banana tree with SO MANY BANANAS that she said "MUST TAKE THE PHOTO! SO RARE TO SEE BANANA TREES THESE DAYS!"

I was like..... -_-"

So yes green bananas at your face

The island was a little boring. Had a few animals but the cages/house they were living in were obviously neglected. Not in a very good condition :(

Rabbits!
Oooh and empty kampung houses!

US :)

After that we went to see........................

Dinosaurs?!

No, the feets belonged to the ostriches! Omg they looked so much like the dinosaurs'...

The ostriches were really cute!!

Chirp chirp.. Okay wait. Do they churp?!

My aunt and mum kept saying, "Oh looking at the thighs.. so hungry right now" -_-

And there were deers too!

Climbed to the peak of the building and this was the entire view of the lake!

^^

We conquered the whole island!

Went to feed the tortoises and fishes before heading back to the previous place..

I couldn't stop thinking about feeding the fishes so Uncle Fei Lou bought one whole packet of popcorns and shoved them all into the lake -_- You should see how crazy were all the catfishes! Wheee

Literally flying out of the lake!

And yes.. Me feeling so pleased at the sight of it.

After that, we felt a little tired but still, went for the most delicious dessert in Ipoh!

Tang Shui! (糖水)

AND MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE FRUIT ICE CREAM PLATTER. And it's only RM 5!!! SO freaking cheap considering the variety of fruits in it? And it taste FREAKING NICE

Next time, remember to visit this shop!

And yes, this is just our tea time "snack", LOL'

So after our tea time snack, we actually went to the biggest Jusco in Ipoh to shop! Bought a pair of heels (on sale) from Vincci and some other stuffs. After that proceeded to Pasar Malam to get my Scheming Beauty Mask but they were out of stock ARGH!

Next Stop:
Dinner @ Lou Wong
Yes, our first time trying out the Ipoh chicken hor fun here but it was seriously damn good! In fact better than the one we always go to (and my darling Raymond Lam too)

YUMMY!

Look at the meatballs and fishballs.. YUMMY

And the chicken!!!

Chicken Feet! (I'm not a fan, but maybe you guys might like it)

And ALL TIME FAVE HOR FUN!

Lou Wong's ipoh hor fun! Really good :)

After that we went to do some shopping at the Malay Pasar Malam just right next to Lou Wong but there aren't anything to buy..

Next Stop:
Sky Lounge @ MH Hotel!

On the way in my aunt's car :)

First time there since it's newly built and it was so nice!! I thought they could change it into a outdoor club instead? How f*king cool will that be!!!!!

My Lychee Liquer yum yum,, drinking it in front of my mother LOL

Well, we were so tired that day that the moment we lied on the bed we just fell asleep! Really a damn good tour man ;P

Day 3
Lunch at Mistress Road.
Decided to give this restaurant a try because uncle keep on recommending us that this is seriously damn good. So yeah..

Full-house!

It was quite inside and this street is called Mistress Street. In the past all the rich guys' mistresses stayed along this lane. Such jerks they were

Finally a table was available!

First dish: Cockles/Mussels?

DAMN GOOD CHICKEN (ESP THE SAUCE)

AND MY ALL TIME FAVE EGG(Consisting of salted egg, normal egg and I forgot what egg lol)

Chicken soup!

AND I LOVE THIS VEGETABLE. I normally don't really eat vegetables cos I hate them, but this is really damn good!!!!!!!!!

The hugeass fish that took about 1/4 of our table?!

I guess out of all the days we stayed in Ipoh, the lunch at Mistress Street was one of the best.. Omg :')

Went to the original Old Town kopitiam to buy their white coffee. And yes, it's the original one! Not the outlet ones you see in Singapore. They started out in Ipoh and slowly expanded to so many different regions of Malaysia and Singapore!

Passed by this shop selling seafood stuffs..
Wonder if the shark head is real? Cos it's smiling! Lol

Dear drinking his white coffee~

And guess where was our next stop?
LOSTWORLD!!!!!!!!!

Missed those times I came here with my brother and cousin.. We had the times of our lives man!

I didn't have much photos cos my camera died even before entering Lostworld :( Shucks!
Oh well, we really did have a nice time.. After that, we even went to Jusco to eat Johnny's Restaurant! Yummy :)

Day 4
Manicure+Dear dyed his hair!
Went to my favourite nail salon and did my nails! They're so skilful and the designs are always so NICE. Mummy also loved their services and we did our nails together!

The queen and princess :P

After that, went to Wars Salon cos dear wanted to highlight his hair!

Me in NYX lipstick Strawberry Daiquiri shade from Smoochiezz! Love the shade!

Dear & I in the car on our way to Parkson for some shopping! :)

Such a good face day.. LOL

Did a lot of shopping and we bought couple dust caps for our iphones!!
^_^

And guess what?
Dear bought me a Instax Mini 7S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omg I was so overjoyed :)

Tested out some shots with the polaroids. Love the vintage feeling to it!

Well, felt really happy!
Anyway dear haven't tried the KL Hokkien Mee aka Dai Lok Mee cooked by my uncle so here it is!

I think it's really good? But my 2nd uncle's Dai Lok Mee is seriously the best! However he was working at somewhere else :(

Took pictures with my baby COUSIN!!!!!!!! LOVE HER SO MUCH :) But this photo turned out so funny! We agreed on taking the photo but when I saw the picture, all of us burst out laughing cos her expression was so damn funny! HAHAHA

Hehe so cute!!

Love this photo :) She's getting more comfortable taking photos!

Polaroids taken with her :)

Her with the rocker look yo!

And I'm very sure when she grows up she's gonna be the most beautiful girl ever, in the whole world :) Inside out. Love her so much.

Day 5
Our last day in Ipoh!

So lunch was obviously LAKSA.
It's a MUST TRY if y'all come to Ipoh!

Yes, this is the famous place well known for their Laksa. My mum said that even Channel 5 also made a trip down here to film the place. But trust me, it's really damn GOOD!

Felt really sad that we had to leave.. but because Dear had to start work the next day so we definitely had to go back :( It has definitely been such a lovely trip, love everyone so much and I hope to be back soon, this year!
